7 steps to foster children’s autonomy at home through order<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Experts in child development tell us about the importance of stimulating autonomy during the first years of life, being the basis of learning to be able to function in a safer way throughout life. Children’s autonomy can be fostered by teaching order at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organization and order play a very important role, because applying it in their lives will help us to promote that autonomy in a more effective way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 7 main keys to promoting autonomy through order are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Observe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before starting we must observe, think about what\nlifestyle and habits our children have, to see what their routines are and how\nthey carry them out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having all that information will make it easier when\nmaking decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Communicate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once we know what their routines are, the time has\ncome to create appropriate organizational systems for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim is to make life easier for them and adapt the\nenvironment to their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, we can add a hanger at their height at\nthe entrance of the house so they can put their jackets and backpacks when they\nget home from school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is very important that we communicate with children\nand that we ask their opinion to know if the organizational systems that we\nhave proposed at home are suitable to their needs and comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes we can believe that it is the best; but only\nthey, who are going to use them, will be able to know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Categorize<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To maintain order and, above all, for children to be more autonomous, the ideal is to organize things by categories, so that they can find things better and even sort them more easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Storage products<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once we create categories, to be able to separate them from each other, we can use boxes, cans, pots, hangers, drawers, shelves, trunks… that help us define each category without mixing everything nonsense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A good idea is to create these storages with the\nchildren, making crafts and taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy some\ntime with the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, this activity, will help us promote not\nonly children\u2019s autonomy through order, but also in the joint creation of\norganizational methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Label<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Labeling each category that we previously separated in your storage, indicating what it contains, is very convenient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will allow the child to perfectly identify what\ngoes in each section without needing to ask at every moment where things are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this way, we will be promoting children\u2019s autonomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If they still can\u2019t read, you can put pictures or even\nphotos of the content, which best suits each stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Accompany<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children go through different stages from the moment they begin to handle objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A first one, in which they need you for everything, a\nsecond one, in which they need your guidance and company to collect or look for\nthings and a last one, in which they can do it on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We must be patient and let them do it little by little\nand make them see that we are by their side to accompany them and to help them\nin whatever they need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When a child succeeds in doing something alone, we are\nreinforcing his self-esteem and his autonomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Congratulate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is just as important to teach them how to order or pick up, as it is to acknowledge it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulate them every time they do something well\nand that they feel happy with their achievements, as it will boost their\nself-esteem and motivation to have more and more desire to do it well, we all\nlike to be told nice things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, whenever you need to correct something, do it\ncalmly, explaining how to do it and making them see that it is not a bad thing\nsince everything has a solution and they are learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let your children do things themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The educational\ninstitution is one of the main agents of axiological education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Different authors highlight the need for the\neducational process to deal with the education of values \u200b\u200bfrom non-traditional\npositions, insisting on the need to plan the process so that it is possible to\nexperience the values, that the school becomes an ethical community in its own\noperation, rejecting the traditional conception of inculcation of values \u200b\u200bin a\nformal way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMore than teaching values, the important thing is to live them, to configure a human world, in which values \u200b\u200bare a guide along the way\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
