Principled
By: Pilar Lavín Alvarez | PYP Coordinator
The development and demonstration of the Attributes of the IB Learner Profile provide an important foundation for international mindedness.
The international mindedness of the International Baccalaureate in the Primary Years Programme is based on the development of the Profile Attributes to achieve students with a critical knowledge of what is happening in the world, both locally and globally, and the ability to take an active part. This programme contributes to creating a learning community in which students, teachers, non-teaching staff, and families play an important role in the learning process and in the development of these attributes.
The IB learner community profile helps our students take action to create positive change. Students have various opportunities to develop, demonstrate and reinforce the attributes of the profile in the day-to-day life of the learning community.
We are principled when we act honestly, ethically, respecting the rights of all and assuming responsibility for our actions.
• We can let our children make their own decisions and talk about the consequences.
• If you practice any sport or hobby, discuss what qualities would mean acting with integrity.
• Work on the value of honesty by presenting them with situations in which they must choose, even if no one is present.
• Talk about public figures who show the value of integrity.
Our school firmly believes in the creation of a culture of integrity, which in the long term translates into the social transformation that society aspires for and demands.
