What is the IB learner profile?
By María Mayela Sosa Rodríguez | Personal Project Coordinator
The fundamental objective of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs is to train people with international mindedness who, aware of the condition that unites them as human beings and of the responsibility they share to look after the planet, contribute to creating a better and more peaceful world.
The IB Learner Profile is the expression of a wide range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success.
In the IB, the central axis is the IB Learner Profile and, as members, we strive to be inquirers, thinkers, reflective, open-minded, knowledgeable, principled, balanced, communicators, risk-takers, and caring; the 10 attributes that make up the profile.
These attributes carry a commitment to helping all members of the school community to learn to respect themselves, others, and the world around them.
Each of the IB programs is committed to developing the IB learner profile in students.
It is the task of the entire learning community made up of students, teachers, administrators, and parents to put into practice and exemplify the attributes of the IB community learner profile.
